Snacks for Success: Madison Chamber partners with Madison Visionary Partners on fundraising campaign for Madison City Schools
August 8, 2022 - The Madison Chamber of Commerce and Madison Visionary Partners (MVP) are teaming up to raise money to purchase snacks for students at Madison City Schools. The campaign, called Snacks for Success, will provide snacks to elementary students as well as to middle and high school students through the school counselor.
“The Madison Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is excited about the partnership with Madison Visionary Partners to launch our second “Madison Chamber Cares” initiative,” said Shari Burnum, chair of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. “We are always looking for ways we can partner to continue to 'Create Community Conversations and Grow Businesses’ and this initiative allows us to continue to support all residents to grow to their highest learning potential.”
Statistics show that almost 1 in 4 Madison City students (20%) live below the poverty line. By supporting students’ needs at the most basic level, business owners and community members can support all students' educational efforts in Madison City by donating to the fund.
"We are thankful to our community and business partners for supporting Madison City Schools,” said Dr. Ed Nichols, superintendent of Madison City Schools. “We are fortunate to live in a great area that works together to support ALL students."
”Our partnership with MVP to launch a snack fund allows our Madison Chamber membership to find new and innovative ways to support our local school system. This initiative will create a wonderful synergy to continue the great educational opportunities in our city,” said Michelle Epling, Executive Director of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. “We are looking forward to all our members supporting this initiative.”
The campaign is asking for donations to cover a typical box of snacks at one of the big box stores, which usually costs $13.50 with tax. There are also options to donate more as the need is great.
“MVP was founded on the idea of community and this is the perfect example of how we can support our youngest citizens. Our hope is that businesses and the community will come together so this fund will have a major impact on our schools, teachers and students,” said Melanie Thornton, Executive Director of Madison Visionary Partners.
The campaign will run until September 15. You can learn more and donate by visiting mvpmadison.org/snacks
